HAWAIIAN MAMAKI TEA
Deep in Hawai’i’s lush volcanic forests is a remarkable plant that’s long been cherished by indigenous Hawaiians for its restorative, medicinal, and ceremonial properties.
Known as the “healer of the forest,” māmaki is not a traditional tea but an herbal tisane from the nutritious Nettle family.
Brewed, it’s a slightly sweet, soothing, and detoxifying tea with mood-enhancing and restorative benefits. You’ll experience a silky, medium bodied, amber beverage with natural notes of hazelnut, bamboo and honey.
Thanks to Mamaki's high antioxidant and polyphenol composition, it's been linked to a wide range of benefits, including cardiovascular health, neuro-protection, anti-viral benefits, treating infections and boosting your mood.
In recent anticancer and chemo-preventive studies, the antioxidants found in samples of Māmaki tea were more active than those found in green tea and even had some mild anti-cancer effects.
The mineral benefits of Māmaki tea include substantial amounts of zinc and potassium, which leads some naturopaths to use Mamaki for treating high blood pressure.
Locally, Māmaki plays an important role in rainforest restoration efforts and is habitat for the Kamehameha butterfly.
This Māmaki tea is pesticide-free and grown on a regenerative rainforest farm in Volcano at 4,000 ft.
HOW TO BREW MAMAKI TEA
MAMAKI TEA BREWING TIPS:

  • Don't discard your leaves after the first steep!Mamaki can be brewed a second time.
  • The longer you let mamaki steep, the more syrupy it gets. It's perfect for sore throats.
  • Skip the milk and white sugar. For a touch of sweetness, add local honey.
  • To maximize health benefits (and your time), brew a 1/2 or whole gallon of mamaki, steep overnight, then store in the fridge and drink throughout the week. Optionally, add a splash of honey, cinnamon, apple or guava juice.

Hot Mamaki Tea:Use 1-2 tablespoons (1g - 2g) of loose māmaki tea per 8-10 oz boiling water. Steep for 10 minutes. The longer you steep it, the thicker and more syrupy it will get!
Iced overnight steep:Crumble 1/4 cup of Māmaki in a glass quart jar or french press. Fill with boiling water and steep overnight.
